Deductions in this quarter

One line per payment or credit. Leave a date blank if it hasn't happened yet: interest then runs to today.

TAXDEDUCTIBLE ONDEDUCTED ONDEPOSITED ONINTEREST

Income-tax Act 2025. Months are counted the way TRACES counts them: every calendar month from the start date to the end date, a part of a month as a whole one, so deducting on 31 May and depositing on 1 June is two months. Interest is worked out on the exact tax and shown to the nearest rupee, as TRACES charges it; Rule 119A would first round the tax down to ₹100, a point worth raising when contesting a demand. Government deductors paying by book entry, lower-deduction certificates and short deductions are not modelled. Check the TRACES justification report before paying a demand.

IN SHORT

This free calculator works out what a deductor owes for TDS or TCS done late: interest at 1% a month for deducting late, 1.5% a month for depositing late, and the ₹200-a-day fee for a late statement, capped at the tax. It counts months the way TRACES does, shows each line's working, flags penalty exposure and exports to Excel. Nothing is uploaded.

STEP BY STEP

How it works

  1. Choose the financial year, quarter and whether it is a TDS or TCS statement; the due date fills itself.
  2. Enter the date you filed, or plan to file, the statement.
  3. Add one line per payment or credit with the tax, when it was deductible, when it was deducted and when it was deposited.
  4. Read the interest, the late fee and the penalty position, line by line, or export the working to Excel.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

How does TRACES count months?
By calendar month, counting a part of a month as a whole one. Tax deducted on 31 May and deposited on 1 June bears two months of interest at 1.5%, not one day's.
Is the late fee ever more than the tax?
No. The fee is ₹200 for each day of delay, but it can never exceed the tax deductible or collectible in that statement.
When is there no penalty for a late statement?
When the statement is filed within one month of the due date and the tax, fee and interest are paid before filing. The window was one year until 31 March 2025. Beyond it, a penalty of ₹10,000 to ₹1,00,000 can be levied on top of the fee.
Does it cover the Income-tax Act 2025?
Yes, for tax year 2026-27 onwards: interest under section 398, the fee under section 427 and the penalty under section 461 at the same rates. TCS statements in Form 143 are now due on the same dates as TDS statements.
